Chung Collection (University of British Columbia)

Cranbrook Archives, Museum and Landmark Foundation

Historical material in the form of books, photographs, maps, files and objects, etc., on early Cranbrook and the railway, including all early Cranbrook newspapers from 1898 to 1973.The Herbert Simpson Fonds consists of correspondence of Simpson acting on behalf of Chinese-Canadian clients in Cranbrook concerning their financial affairs and immigration status.

Cumberland Museum and Archive

Community records (1880-1970s) including photographs, business records, hospital records, Canadian Collieries Dunsmuir mining records, Fire Department records, family records, school records, and records and information files on various cultural groups including the Japanese, Chinese, Italian, and British. The Chinese Nationalist League Cumberland Branch Fonds consists of correspondence, proclamations, certificates, membership cards, and other documents.

Municipal and community records, as well as non-archival material such as publications, research files, periodicals, brochures and pamphlets. Photographs Collection has photos on Chinese working in farms, canneries, fishing and scenes of Chinatown. Also available is the Chung Family Fonds.

Diocesan Archives of the Anglican Diocese of British Columbia

During the late 1880s and the early 1890's a Chinese lay catechist was operating a Chinese Mission in the Victoria area. In 1925, the Good Hope Mission ( also known as the Victoria Chinese Mission) was established with Diocesan funding. A vestry of nine Chinese communicants was formed that year. The Mission operated until 1955. Some of the documents, e.g. financial records, were in Chinese.

Kelowna Public Archives

The Chinese Community Collection consists of business and personal correspondence and receipts, financial records, immigration papers, and documents pertaining to the Dart Coon Club and the Kuo Min Tang. It also consists of approximately 300 original letters written in Chinese. Letters are to and from Chinese in Kelowna to family and friends in China.

Langley Centennial Museum

The archival holdings include records and documents, ranging from correspondence and minute books to newspaper, maps and photographs.  Kwong Lee Trading Company Fonds is available. 

Museum of Vancouver

Historical, ethnographic, archaeological, Asian studies, and natural history objects. Its Chinese Canadian collection consists of household items, clothing, account books, Chinese textbooks, novels, Bible, magazines, Chinese typewriter and miscellaneous.

Oral history, Chinese newspapers, archives and photographs.

Nanaimo Community Archives

Photographs, maps, memorabilia and other materials from the public and private sectors including the municipal government, community and service organizations, families and individuals. Records date from 1852 to the present with materials from 1874, the year of city incorporation, to 1952 predominating. A number of Chinese fonds are preserved such as Quang Jan Yip fonds , Wong family fonds , and Dick & June Leahy fonds.

New Westminster Museum & Archives

Historic photographs and other items such as maps, plans, diaries, letters, city records and oral histories. Fonds of New Westminster Chinese Benevolent Association, 1928-1968; New Westminster Chinese Benevolent Association, 1904-197; and Chinese Old Man's Home 1929 are available.

Quesnel and District Museum and Archives

Archival materials include: manuscript collection (letters, diaries, memoirs, minutes), some Village/Town of Quesnel records, aural histories, clipping files, local newspapers, maps, photographs and films. Chinese Textual Records Collection and Department of Immigration and Colonization Fonds are available.

Rare Book and Special Collections (University of British Columbia)

Rare books, historic maps, photographs, broadsides, pamphlets and archival materials relating to the Chinese, Japanese, Sikh and Swedish communities in the province. Chinese fonds include: Britannia Beach Mining and Smelting Company Ltd. Fonds, Chinese Consul of Vancouver Fonds, Chock On Fonds, Foon Sien Wong Fonds, Lee Family Fonds, Ron Bick Lee, Thomas Whaun Fonds, Wah Shun Company Fonds, and Won Alexander Cumyow Fonds.

University of Victoria Archives

Private archives of individuals and organizations associated with the university and its predecessors. Holdings include textual records, photographs of various formats, audio and video recordings, motion picture films, posters and other ephemera, microforms, maps and computer disks, and objects. Inclusive dates are 1780-2009. Chinese Consolidated Benevolent Association Fonds and Lee Hung Fonds are available.
